take me home country roads

i started my family med rotation back in reading last week and i'm still loving it :) while living in the clinic is still slightly creepy i feel like i'm an old hack at it now since i'm not such a newbie and there are other people here learning the ropes.

this past weekend was wonderful- i had monday off and i don't think that i've ever fully appreciated the awesomeness that is labor day. than again, this is the first time i've never not had a summer either-let me tell you-it sucks. big time.

i spent part of the weekend in baltimore with keith where we went to my first state fair which was pretty neat. it was apparently the thing to do in maryland on saturday because the weather was absolutely perfect so everybody and their brother showed up.

i'm not complaining though, i saw lots of animals, oversized produce and ate funnel cake i was pretty content :) what made it even better was the fact that we went after the psu victory 44-14 against youngstown-i'm not saying that i'm proud of the fact that we pay teams to come be our doormats but i'm trying to hold on to the victory as long as possible in light of the almost certain slaughter that is going to happen come saturday in a little town called tuscaloosa.

sunday keith finally made it up to the family cabin in pipersville, pa and it was great to see everyone and catch up, it's been ages since i've been able to make it. there's nothing quite like the crick (yes that is spelled correctly) crisp air, campfires and a front porch that make you want to stay forever, especially now since there's a septic system and i no longer have to use the outhouse to go number two. good lord i used to be terrified to walk up the hill out of the back of the cabin beyond where the backlight reached, along the rock steps (that had no railing and always seemed to be just a bit too far apart) into the wooden outhouse where you were never quit sure if there was going to be a critter inside waiting to greet you or just the resident spiders. gotta love the country :)

Excessively large produce

the large pumpkin was over 700lbs

prize winning jam, or jelly or maybe it was preserves...who knows

rides :)
why wouldn't there be chainsaw woodworking??

Farm animals

mmm, bacon :) not gonna lie, probably wouldn't have been that upset if i knew that this is how wilbur ended up in charlotte's web

moo cows

loved this horse

apparently when horses get bored they like to naw off their doors, i like to think he was trying to make an escape for freedom

i'll post a few pictures from up the country when i get the chance but now i need to go to bed :)
